Entropy Three-Act Structure
What each act unlocks between August 2026 and 1.0.
Steam’s Early Access questionnaire is blunt: Entropy is a story told in three acts, and each act unlocks a new chunk of the world—towns, quests, dungeons, and characters. Major act drops are the spine of Early Access; minor patches fill the gaps. This page is the plain-language map of that promise.
Act 1 — Gloaming Isles (EA day one)
On August 18, 2026, Early Access launches with Act 1 fully playable. The Gloaming Isles are about one quarter of the finished game: two towns, three dungeons, smaller locations, and a full sampler of weapons, armors, and spells. Deep dive: Gloaming Isles Act 1. Prep: Launch Checklist.
Acts 2 and 3 — growing the map
Later acts unlock additional world chunks during Early Access. Treat each as a major update, not a tiny balance patch. Expect new towns and dungeon rules that may invalidate cozy demo habits—revisit Combat Basics and Limb Targeting when enemy verbs change.
Act 3 split finale
The third act is planned in two parts. The final part unlocks only with the full 1.0 launch. That means even “Act 3 is out” during EA may not be the ending credits. Plan emotionally and financially with Early Access Pricing and the Early Access Roadmap.
Timeline mindset (about one year EA)
Developers currently aim for about a year of Early Access until content-complete 1.0, and state the project is fully funded either way. Use Release Date for the calendar and Launch Week News for near-term announcements.
What this means for your save brain
- Demo power spikes are teaching tools, not Act 1 balance—Demo vs Early Access.
- Tier lists will drift when new armor verbs arrive—Tier List Hub.
- Roster identity should survive patches—Party Formation, Survive Permadeath.
Feedback and verification
Act unlock marketing should appear on Steam news and official socials. Confirm rumors against Official Links and Discord Community. This wiki will add patch children under Updates Hub when notes land.
Player checklist by act language
When Steam says Act 2, ask: new towns? new hire economy? new armor gates? Update your Party Planner and gold buffer before diving blind.
Three acts is a promise of geography, not a promise that day-one EA is the whole novel. Buy the chapter you want to help edit.
How major updates may feel in practice
When an act lands, expect new overworld edges, town economy pressure, dungeon rules that punish last act’s comfort comps, and fresh mercenary portraits with unfamiliar verbs. Your job is not to perfect a theorycraft spreadsheet on day one. Your job is to re-run the Party Planner coverage checklist and confirm stun, Pierce, and Blunt still exist in the new hire pool.
Comparing Dread Delusion habits
Fans of Lovely Hellplace’s prior Early Access know systems can swing. Bring that patience, not the same first-person movement instincts—Entropy is turn-based rows. Read Demo Review for tone and Getting Started for the theatre-troupe opening.
Documentation hygiene for wiki readers
When you cite an act unlock to friends, include the Steam news date. This page will note when official language changes. Until then, treat third-party calendars as entertainment.
Expedition metaphor
Think of acts as islands chained by ferries that are not running yet. Act 1 is a real island with real inns. Acts 2–3 are advertised coastlines. Version 1.0 opens the last ferry. Pack for the island you can actually walk.
Buyer FAQ you will hear at launch parties
Friends will ask whether they can finish the story in a weekend. Answer with Act 1 quarter-scope, Act 3 split finale, and the roughly one-year Early Access window. Point them to Early Access Pricing and Wishlist Checklist so expectations stay adult.
